A recent study by McKinsey found that resiliency is the most important attribute that women need for career success in the 21st century. For school nurses, resiliency is particularly critical given the demands placed upon the profession and the relative lack of support from administrators. In fact, Dr. Stephanie Turner, a professor at the Capstone College of Nursing, noted how is “is an imperative quality for nurses to possess because of the stressful nature of the profession of nursing.” The ability to maintain your resiliency and thrive in the midst of adversity is an intentional choice. When school nurses consciously make that choice, they are better equipped to be transformed by work-related challenges.

Every day we encounter challenges when we are working that test our ability to be resilient, to be strong and overcome difficulties, and to thrive, not just survive. Some days the challenges are small: a computer problem or administrative issue. Other days the challenges are large: losing a job or a conflict with an administrator. To overcome these challenges, we need to proactively build our ability to be resilient.

During this webcast, the presenters will introduce the Resiliency Framework, which was developed from extensive research and interviews. The framework consists of six strategies that help women thrive in the face of career challenges. While the framework is focused on women, many of the strategies can be applied across genders.

Attend this session to find out which resiliency strategy you need to strengthen to increase your career satisfaction and viability. You will take a brief assessment to determine your resiliency needs, and you will leave with at least one action that you can take immediately to increase your resiliency. By using the six resiliency strategies, you can create a career defined by growth, success, and satisfaction.
