VSP Sight for Students

COVID-19 Update

NASN is happy to report that the Sight for Student program will go live again on August 3, 2020.  If you submitted a form on this web page in the past few months, NASN's VSP Eyes of Hope partner is already preparing to get these out to you.

Also, due to the scale of the COVID-19 crisis, and the significant impacts on the communities VSP serves, VSP has had to make difficult decisions to effectively allocate resources in response to the increased need for access to eye care and eyewear across the U.S.

NASN members are asked to request ONLY as many gift certificates as they plan to distribute in the next six months. Additionally, please know that VSP may need to reduce the amount that is approved per requestor this year.

NASN is grateful to VSP Global® for Sight for Students®, an Eyes of Hope® gift certificate program.  This program provides gift certificates for a no-cost eye exam and, if prescribed, new glasses that NASN members can distribute to students 19 or younger who qualify.

Thanks to our partnership, more than 400,000 students have been able to visit a local eye doctor to receive the vision care they need to succeed in school and achieve their dreams. Since 1997, together with VSP® network doctors, Eyes of Hope® programs, including Sight for Students®, have provided access to no-cost eye care and eyewear for more than 1.3 million adults and children in need.

VSP, VSP Global, Eyes of Hope, and Sight for Students are registered trademarks of Vision Service Plan.

Important Program Details

The program is fully administered by VSP Global®.

A Social Security number (SSN) is not required to use gift certificates provided by the program.  Updated certificates will include a pre-populated Patient ID number instead of a space for a SSN. Certificates that have a space for a SSN can still be used until they expire.  If no SSN is available, contact VSP Global® for the Patient ID that can be entered into the SSN space.

For a child to qualify for the program:

  • Family income is at or under 200% of federal poverty guidelines.
  • Child is 19 years old or younger and has not graduated from high school.
  • Does not have any vision insurance (including Medicaid or other government programs that cover routine eye exams).
  • Can only use this program once every 12 months.
