Recruiting for NASN Abstract Review Committee

This opportunity is available to 13 active serving BOD members and 12 past BOD members. This committee is responsible for reviewing all conference abstract submissions (oral and e-posters) for NASN’s annual conference. Each committee participant will need to be available for a minimum of 3 ½ weeks in mid- October to early November for oral and e-poster abstract reviews. Each participant will be assigned an equal number of abstracts to review (specific numbers will vary from year to year based on submissions). The committee participant will review and score the abstracts (oral and e-Posters) based on the NASN's scoring guidelines. Committee members will need to have access to a computer and internet in order to fulfill their duties on this committee. Volunteers for this committee will be required to complete abstract review orientation training (provided by CATALYST system), by the designated time frame to maintain good standing on this committee.

The conference team is looking for 12 active BOD members and 12 past BOD members (*must be active NASN members) to volunteer and participate in this committee. You do not have to have experience with abstract reviewing to volunteer for this committee. However, we are looking for volunteers that are interested in guiding and assisting NASN in determining the highest caliber of presentations (oral and e-Poster) that will inspire and reach school nurses on the national platform.

The deadline to sign-up has been extended to Friday, August 7th, 2020. If you know of a former BOD member that would be a great fit for this committee, then feel free to forward this invitation onward to them or you can nominate them for this opportunity.

Here is a list of some of the committee requirements:

  • Complete CATALYST abstract reviewer training.
  • Review and comply with all of the NASN abstract scoring guidelines.
  • Commit to complete the abstract reviews by the designated dates and time frames (e-Posters and Oral abstracts).
  • Provides positive and constructive feedback on abstract reviews to assist the author(s) and NASN conference team during the review process.
  • Response to email correspondences in a timely manner.

Friendly Suggestion: Please consider your availability to fulfill these duties/requirements before signing-up to take on the responsibilities of this opportunity. This committee’s success is contingent upon committee members meeting specific deadlines.
