Call for Applications: Editor of The Journal of School Nursing
Closing Date: November 1, 2024
The National Association of School Nurses (NASN) announces the search for the Editor of The Journal of School Nursing (JOSN). This peer-reviewed, bimonthly publication has been servicing the field of school nursing in pursuit of high impact content since its beginning in the 1980s. NASN is accepting Editor applications for a contract commencing, preferably January-March 2025.
As the official research publication of the National Association of School Nurses (www.nasn.org), The Journal of School Nursing provides a forum for improving the health of school children and the health of the school community. The JOSN seeks to engage a broad range of clinicians, scholars and community leaders in an ongoing exchange of information through scholarly articles, including original research, brief research reports, literature reviews, quality improvement reports, evidenced-based innovations in clinical practice or policy, and letters to the editor. In addition to the nursing perspective, the JOSN features expertise from medicine, public health, epidemiology, health services research, policy analysis, education administration, and other disciplines that contribute to the health and well-being of students from pre-school through high school. The journal is indexed in MEDLINE, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PsycINFO, and Scopus.
The Editor will work with the publisher, Sage, to ensure high quality peer review and timely and accurate delivery of manuscripts for publication.
The Editor will be responsible for soliciting, reviewing, and making final decisions on submissions to the journal, and will manage all aspects of the publication and review process using the Manuscript Central electronic submission and review platform. The Editor is expected to maintain timely and effective communication, advance journal performance, and work towards upholding the JOSN’s high quality standard. The Editor works with an Editorial Advisory Board (EAB) and selects a cadre of manuscript reviewers in association with the EAB. NASN provides support for the Editor to attend both the annual in-person JOSN Editorial Advisory Board meeting and the in-person NASN Annual Conference (both held in the same location)
The JOSN Editor is an independent contractor, performs services for NASN pursuant to a Service Agreement, and reports to the NASN Chief Executive Officer.
