Arkansas Celebrates NASN’S 50th Anniversary
A – Arkansas, the natural state, a mostly rural state full of trails, waterfalls and lakes to explore and home to

R – The Arkansas Razorbacks (the only state to have a razorback for a mascot) and the Arkansas Red Wolves!

K – Keep your own diamonds from digging all day at the only Diamond dig site in the U.S.

A – Arkansas Schools Nurses Association affiliated with NASN for the last 35 years and unified with NASN for the last 10.

N- NASN inducts one of Arkansas’s own, Valerie Beshears, as secretary/treasurer for NASN. WHOOT, WHOOT!

S – State legislation this year included acts for stock Naloxone, Albuterol and Epinephrine. Other acts cover sunscreen, Hunger-Free students, Recess,
Primary Prevention Education. HB 1014 provides Stop the Bleed training as a graduation requirement for high school students!

A – Automated External Defibrillators, Arkansas was one the first states to recognize the need and mandate them in schools

S – The state association has over 200 members and continues to grow. One of our main goals this year is to continue expanding membership and work to increase the participation of the state’s LPN’s. Under consideration is the formation of a LPN council.
