Learning, Linking, Leading at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis Indiana

This blog is posted by Deb Robarge on behalf of the Indiana Association of School Nurses.

We’re not just the Crossroads of America… check us out, we have so much more!!!

Join us in “Learning, Linking and Leading” at NASN2016 in Indianapolis, June 30 – July 3rd, 2016. As an Indiana School Nurse, I’m thrilled to welcome school nurses from across the country and the world to our beautiful city of Indianapolis! Let us prove to you that as a local commercial says, “there’s more than corn (and a little 500 race) in Indiana!

As Beth Mattey has stated, “You don’t have to do it alone -we’ll talk about what matters to you and tackle the big questions together!” This will be my 7th NASN conference and each one has been invaluable! The networking and colleague connections I have made have been priceless. Everyone owes it to their professional growth to experience at least one!

This year’s Community Give Back award will support the Lion’s Club of Indiana. Numerous local Lions clubs support our Indiana school nurses in many ways. Please plan to bring one or more pairs of unwanted glasses to donate to Lions Recycle for Sight and change someone’s life!

Our Indiana school nurses will provide fitness activities every morning through Saturday. Feel good about yourself all day long by starting with exercise, and maybe make a new friend or two along the way.

After your workout, make time to visit our Marketplace. Our Indiana school nurse volunteers have been hard at work selecting many unique Indiana and school nurse related items for you to pick up to bring home for yourself or a colleague.

Indianapolis is the 14th largest city in the U.S., and more interstate highways connect here than any other U.S. city. Right next to the JW Marriott is the White River State Park, America’s only Cultural Urban State Park! We hope you can make time while you’re here to see at least a taste of what Indy has to offer!

If you’re a history buff, check out our many and varied museums, some right across the street from the Marriott, including the NCAA Hall of Champions and the Indiana Medical Museum. And, did you know that Indianapolis donates more acreage to honoring our countries war dead than any other U.S. city?

For the children, the Indianapolis Zoo is within walking distance and has one of the largest groups of orangutans of any American zoo! Within minutes of downtown is our Children’s Museum which is billed as the largest in the world and fun for children and adults!

For a nostalgia sports event, we have Victory Field right behind the hotel, which is home to the Indianapolis Indians, the AAA farm team for the Pittsburgh Pirates – an affordable venue. By car or cab, you won’t want to miss the Indianapolis 500 Museum in Speedway and have a ride around the famous racetrack.

And oh yeah … there are lots of good eats in downtown Indy within walking distance or a short cab ride!

I encourage you to the Visit Indy microsite to see all that the city has to offer!

The Indiana Association of School Nurses can’t wait to welcome you to its beautiful city this year for NASN2016!
