I received my ADN in 1995 from Des Moines Area Community College. After working for a number of years, I went back to school receiving my BSN from the University of Iowa in 2011 and then my MSN with a focus on Health Advocacy from Mount Mercy University in 2013.
I started working as a school nurse in 2006. I have been an active member of NASN since 2007. I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau, Gamma and Kappa Xi Chapters. I became a National Certified School Nurse in 2015. I represent School Nursing and students for the Iowa School Nurse Organization by serving as Legislative Chair. I also serve on the Iowa Nurses Association Public Policy Committee, Iowa Public Health Association Advocacy Committee, and Iowa Immunizes Policy and Advocacy Committee.
In 2014, I was appointed as Legislative Chair of the Iowa School Nurse Organization. In 2016 I was elected as President-Elect of ISNO. In April of 2016 I received the honor of Iowa School Nurse of the Year. I continue to enjoy legislation, policy, and advocating for students and school nurses.
